Location: Tewkesbury (Hybrid)
Salary: £32,000 to £35,000 per year dependant on experience
Status: Permanent - Full Time
Working Hours: 37.5 hours Monday to Friday

We are seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting the delivery of accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls across the business. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who is actively studying towards a recognised accountancy qualification and is looking to further develop their management accounting experience within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
Purpose of Role:
To support the Senior Management Accountant in maintaining accurate financial records, delivering timely management information, and ensuring effective financial control across the business. The role will contribute to the production of monthly management accounts, budgeting and forecasting processes, cash flow monitoring, statutory reporting, and financial analysis to support informed business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Management Accounting & Reporting
Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes.
Produce monthly financial reports and management information to agreed deadlines.
Analyse monthly performance against budget and forecast, providing variance analysis and commentary where relevant.
Support the preparation of year-end audit files and information required by external accountants.
Assist with the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets across the business.
Support the production of periodic forecasts and cash flow projections.
Monitor actual performance against budget and identify key trends, risks, and opportunities.
Provide financial data and analysis to support operational decision-making.
Financial Control & Compliance
Support the preparation of quarterly VAT returns and all statutory reporting requirements as needed.
Complete monthly balance sheet and trust account reconciliations.
Ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
Support the ongoing review and improvement of financial controls and processes.
Assist in maintaining compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Promptly report any errors, discrepancies, or data protection concerns in accordance with company procedures.
Sales Ledger
Lead the sales invoicing processes and debt collection activities.
Monitor outstanding debtor balances and assist in reducing aged debt.
Business Partnering & Continuous Improvement
Build effective working relationships with colleagues across the business.
Provide financial information and support to non-finance stakeholders.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and efficiencies within the finance function.
Support finance system enhancements and data quality initiatives.
Demonstrate a professional, collaborative, and customer-focused approach in all interactions.
General
Take responsibility for identifying personal development and training needs.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity when handling financial information.
Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the Senior Management Accountant or business.
Person Specification:
Experience
Essential
Experience working within a finance or management accounting environment.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Desirable
Experience using Microsoft Business Central, Dynamics, or similar ERP systems.
Experience of budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
Experience using data analysis and reporting tools.
Healthcare, insurance, or professional services sector experience.
Skills & Knowledge

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
Knowledge and understanding gained through studying towards a recognised professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).

Qualifications and Training
Essential
Part-qualified accountant actively studying towards CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent professional qualification.
GCSE Mathematics and English (or equivalent).
Desirable
AAT Qualified or equivalent.
Relevant finance or accounting degree.
